Servings: 10

EQUIPMENT

INGREDIENTS

Dough:

  • cups/500 grams flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons/10 grams dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • ¼ cup/50 grams oil
  • 1 cup/240 milliliters lukewarm water

Filling:

  • Your favorite chocolate spread

Glaze:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place all the dough ingredients in a stand mixer bowl, except for the salt, and knead for 2-3 minutes. Add the salt and keep kneading for 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and flexible. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal parts (65 grams each, if you want to be precise) and roll them into balls. Flatten each ball with a rolling pin, add your chocolate spread using a piping bag right in the middle of each dough piece, fold it to close and roll into a ball again.
  • Preheat the oven to 390 °F (200 °C). Place the dough balls in a round baking pan lined up with parchment paper and let them rise for another 15 minutes. Bake for 20 minutes or until the rolls turn golden.
  • Whisk the sugar and water in a small pot over medium heat and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and stir until the sugar dissolved and the liquid is thicker like syrup. When the rolls are ready, brush them with the syrup, let them rest for 10 minutes and serve.
