INGREDIENTS

  • cups/1 liter milk
  • ½ cup sugar/honey
  • 1 green cardamom pod
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 bay leaf
  • teaspoons 7 grams green/black tea powder

INSTRUCTIONS

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, let the sugar melt and caramelize, stirring continuously to prevent any burning mishaps.
  • Add the green cardamom pod, cinnamon stick, grated ginger, and bay leaf to the saucepan. Stir them together, allowing their essence to infuse the syrup for about a minute.
  • Pour 1 cup of milk into the saucepan and stir to dissolve the caramelized sugar and mingle it with the harmonious blend of spices.
  • Gradually incorporate the remaining milk into the pan, continuing to stir. Increase the heat and let the mixture reach a gentle boil. Stir occasionally to ensure every sip is a delight, while guarding against any scorching.
  • As the milk boils, lower the heat to a gentle simmer and sprinkle in the green or black tea powder. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, inviting the flavors to weave their magic.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the tea. Embrace the authentic Nepali experience by serving this enchanting tea in fire-baked mud cups, or unleash your creativity with any desired serving cups.
